The Percussion Workshops are educational, inclusive, and accessible activities where participants have the opportunity to learn and practice percussion techniques on different instruments.

 

Our goal is to bring Brazilian percussion to groups of people anywhere in the world.

 

These are musical experiences that exercise perception, improvisation, social interaction, creative expression, and connection with culture. Classes are taught in Portuguese or English.

Objective

The Children's Percussion Workshop aims to introduce children to the world of percussion in a fun and educational way, stimulating motor coordination, group interaction, and creativity.

 

Fun games and activities with percussion instruments and Brazilian rhythms, in addition to teaching basic concepts of rhythm, timbre, duration, intensity, and pitch in a playful way. Children experience the sounds of more than 20 percussion instruments.

 

Together, we created a short presentation, encouraging the children to play together and respect the collective time.

 

Target Audience

Children aged 6 to 10 years (early childhood).

Objective

The goal of the Samba School Drumming Workshop is to teach participants the playing techniques and fundamentals of the 9 most commonly used instruments in a samba school drum section: surdos (1st, 2nd and 3rd), repinique, tamborim, caixa, agogô, ganzá and cuíca.

 

In this workshop we practice rhythm, motor coordination, teamwork , collective listening, traditional rhythms and rhythmic variations.

 

Target Audience

For ages 10 and up, of all levels (beginner to advanced).

Objective

The Percussion Workshop in the Samba Circle aims to practice techniques and fundamentals of the 9 most commonly used instruments in a traditional Brazilian samba circle: pandeiro, tantan, repique de mão, ganzá, reco-reco, tamborim, cuíca, surdo and agogô.

 

Working in groups allows us to create diverse possibilities for percussive arrangements and musical interaction. The proposed activities respect the level of each participant.

Objective

The objective of the pandeiro workshop, focusing on Brazilian rhythms, is to develop the musicality, coordination, and rhythmic understanding of the participants through the practical and contextualized study of genres such as samba, xote, baião, coco, and maracatu. It emphasizes listening, practice, and the unique language of each rhythm, while simultaneously promoting cultural integration, collective perception, and the student's autonomy in applying the instrument in different musical formations.

Objective

The objective of the cajón workshop focusing on Brazilian rhythms is to introduce and deepen the use of the instrument in the adaptation and interpretation of genres such as samba, baião, xote, coco, and ijexá, developing coordination, independence, rhythmic perception, and timbre awareness, while simultaneously stimulating the practical application of the cajón in different musical contexts, valuing creativity and Brazilian rhythmic identity.
